What Airport should I fly to?

We recommend that you fly to the Victoria International Airport (YYJ). Flights from Vancouver International Airport to Victoria International Airport are frequent and take about 30 minutes.

The meeting point for the Camping Tours is at Barnacle Road, where can I park my car?

There is free parking on Barnacle Road. However, parking spots are limited. We strongly recommend that you carpool or use public transit (BC Transit – Bus 70, 71 or 72 – stop ID # 102387 “Ferry Terminal access rd. at Lands End”).

Do I need to bring a Personal Floatation Device (PFD)?

All our boats are equipped with PFDs as per Transport Canada requirements and regulations. You are not required to wear them at all time but if you wish to wear your PFD while rowing, we recommend that you bring your own PFD to make sure that your comfortable while rowing (e.g. Belt PFD)

What do I need to bring with me?

It depends on the weather conditions which can change frequently, you should be prepared for rain, sun, cold and warm temperatures. Please check our Packing List for Camping Adventures or for the Ultimate Tour to make sure you are bringing everything you need during your West Coast Adventure.

Do I have to be experienced to join a multi-day tour?

We require a minimum of one (1) year of rowing experience (does not need to be coastal) to join our tours. The more the better.  Make sure to check the difficulty level and the distance rowed on average per day before signing up. We reserve the right to turn down potential guests if we feel that their experience, technical skills or fitness are not adequate for the tour. Your safety remains our priority number one.

Do I have to be experienced to join a day tour?

While our multi day tours, require a minimum of one (1) year of rowing experience, our day tours are designed to fit your needs. Whether you are a highly experienced rower or want to try coastal rowing for the first time, we will take you out on the water. We reserve the right to turn down potential guests if we feel that their experience, technical skills or fitness are not adequate for the tour. Your safety is our priority.

Can I row in different boats during a tour?

We do our best to accommodate everyone’s preference. The number and type of boats on a tour depends on the number of guests and everyone’s experience level. There will always be one guide rowing with you who will try to provide the opportunity to switch boats if possible.

What is on the menu for the Gulf Islands Getaway and Expedition?

We bring as much fresh and delicious food as we can in our rowing boats. But don’t worry. What we can’t bring with us, the support boat can!

What type of footwear do I need on a tour?

We recommend that you wear neoprene shoes to row as they are ideal for wet launching and rowing. Pack a pair of runners in your bag to go hiking, or for alternative activities if needed. Refer to our “Packing List” for more details.
